A Study on Design Method of Synchronous Reluctance Motor Based on Nonlinear MEC Using Newton-Raphson Method

Recently, policies for carbon reduction are being implemented worldwide to solve environmental and energy consumption problems. Minimum Energy Performance Standard (MEPS) is a policy reducing by regulating the efficiency of industrial induction motors. The motors have low manufacturing cost simple structure, it can be operated without control great advantages in maintenance so applied various fields. However, compared with other types motors, there limit improving due additional loss generated cage rotor. Synchronous reluctance (SynRMs) attracting most attention as an alternative motor since they composed only copper winding core, durability excellent Moreover, unlike no secondary loss; therefore, evaluated high-efficiency corresponding MEPS. because their complex rotor shape multiple barriers segments, SynRMs typically designed using finite-element analysis, requiring significant amount time trial error. In this paper, basic design method synchronous based on nonlinear magnetic equivalent circuit Newton-Rapson presented. Finally, validated through performance tests prototype.
